Ginger and Kenny Lehman of Mobile Marquees

The two people who show up

I’m Ginger. Kenny is my husband. We started Mobile Marquees in December of 2022, and between us we are the whole company.

How this started

Mobile Marquees is not the first thing I have run. I already had a Sign Gypsy franchise, the yard greetings that turn up on somebody’s lawn overnight for a birthday, and that is how marquees first crossed my path. They looked like a fun thing to add. Kenny was home with the children, we were looking for a way to add to what came in each month, and letters seemed like a good place to put the work.

We live in West Mobile. Four children between us, two of them grown and married, which got us two daughters-in-law we would have picked ourselves. The youngest two are nine and ten. There is a granddaughter now, and we answer to Papap and GiGi, which is the best job either of us has ever had.

It is a small thing to rent somebody letters, and it turns out to have an outsized effect on a room, which is most of why we are still doing it. Since then we have lit up weddings, school nights, church events, baby showers, graduations, sorority recruitment, milestone birthdays and one proposal at sunset over the water that we are still not over. We are members at Redemption Church, West Campus, and a good part of the calendar is people we are one degree away from.

The part we like best

Not the letters. The photograph that comes back afterwards.

We set up, we get out of the way, and the thing we wait for is the picture from the night. Usually it is the bride and groom standing in front of the letters, and by then our piece of it has stopped being a rental and turned into part of the moment.

Nobody calls us because they want letters. They call because there is a night coming and they want it to look the way it feels.

We love seeing our pieces become part of someone’s special day.

What makes us different

This is a family business in the plainest sense of it. It started as a way to add to what came in each month, and it is still the two of us doing every part of it.

When you call, you get an owner. When the letters arrive, it is one of us bringing them. If something needs deciding at your venue at four in the afternoon, the person standing there can decide it.

We carry two styles rather than one, so the letters can suit the room instead of the room putting up with the letters. And we bring the Magazine Photo Booth, which is the newest thing we own and the one people talk about on the way home.

Two Styles. Endless Celebrations.

How it works

Four steps, and three of them are ours.

  1. Send your date The date, the venue, and roughly what you want it to spell. That is enough to start.
  2. We price it We come back to you with what it costs for your letters, your venue and your timing.
  3. We deliver and set up Indoors or out. It is standing and lit before your first guest walks in.
  4. We come back for it Pickup is ours. You leave your own party without a job waiting at the end of it.

What our clients are saying

We have lit up weddings, showers, graduations and proposals across coastal Alabama and Mississippi since 2022. If we lit up yours, we would love to hear about it.
